Moms would never pick a "favorite child," and teachers certainly never should choose a "favorite student." But it is OK for a mom and a teacher to have a favorite CALCULATOR. I just so happen to have a new favorite. My old favorite was the TI-30XS. It looks like the blue one below. It is still a great calculator, and if you have one, by all means, hold onto it. But if you are going to be buying a new calculator in the near future, please consider my new favorite, the TI-36XPro. It is even better than TI-30XS. It does a better job of scientific notation and exponents. It also handles imaginary numbers and complex numbers. Did I mention that it will solve equations for you? Even 2nd and 3rd-degree equations? It can even take on matrices and systems of equations. It is great with statistics and probability. It is hard to believe but true that this little wonder is approved for the SAT and ACT. It will not do any graphing for you, but I do have graphing calculators available in class. How much would you expect to pay for a calculator that practically does your homework for you? How about $18.97? That is the price on Amazon.
I used to be very flexible about which calculator to use. Now I am more practical about it. It is much easier for me if everyone is using the same or nearly the same calculator. So if you don't already own the old blue one, buy the newer, sleeker, black one. I am an Amazon Prime member, so I get free two-day shipping. Just let me know if you would like for me to order one for you.
My favorite (above).
